Resource optimization and problem solving

At UNE Electricidad we develop engineering projects with a focus on resource optimization and the effective solution of operational problems.

We have participated in projects related to CCTV systems, fuel savings through lighting improvements, mitigation of signal loss through electrical panels and UPS systems, also incorporating solutions geared towards renewable energies.

Each project includes a preliminary technical study, investment assessment, and benefits analysis, ensuring efficient, safe, and sustainable solutions over time.

LED lighting project in warehouses

UNE Electricidad has developed energy optimization projects through the modernization of interior lighting systems in maritime vessels.

The scope considered the replacement of fluorescent lights with LED technology, including a prior technical study of consumption, operating conditions and return on investment, ensuring an efficient and reliable solution for continuous operation.

The implementation of the project achieved the following:

  • Significant reduction in energy consumption associated with electricity generation.
  • Decreased operating costs per vessel, resulting from lower fuel demand.
  • Increased lifespan of the lighting system.
  • Greater operational reliability and ease of maintenance.

Entity certified by maritime authority

UNE Electricidad is an entity certified by the Maritime Authority of Chile, with full validity for the installation, maintenance and replacement of VSS systems, in compliance with the Law on Discarding of Hydrobiological Species and current maritime regulations.

The certification is registered under No. SIM5800CET00824, granted by the competent authority.

VSS projects consider the design, implementation and commissioning of onboard video surveillance systems, oriented towards operational control, traceability of tasks and regulatory compliance required by the authority.

These systems utilize Hikvision equipment, including cameras, recording and encoding devices, selected for their reliability, image quality, compatibility and resistance to marine environments.

The solution allows continuous 24/7 viewing, remote access to linked cameras, and quick extraction of video recordings when required by the client or the competent authority.


Anti-blackout solution for maritime video surveillance systems

UNE Electricidad developed an electrical engineering solution aimed at ensuring the operational continuity of video surveillance systems (VSS) on maritime vessels during critical electrical generation change processes.

In certain ships, the replacement or switching of generators caused temporary blackouts, resulting in the total failure of recording systems and the consequent loss of critical information, thus failing to meet the operational and regulatory requirements of the VSS system.

This condition represents a relevant operational and regulatory risk to safety and compliance with the Maritime Authority.

Developed engineering solution

UNE designed and implemented a dedicated electrical panel, capable of:

  • Receive main power supply at 220 VAC
  • Manage the power supply using UPS and inverter
  • Maintaining a continuous power supply to cameras, recorders, and associated devices
  • Ensure uninterrupted system operation during generator replacement

The system allows that, even when there is a momentary interruption in the main generation, the SVG system continues to operate without loss of signal or interruption of recordings.

UNE designs customized anti-blackout solutions, taking into account the electrical configuration, the type of building and the specific architecture of the existing VSS system.


Renewable Energy

At UNE Electricidad we have technicians specializing in renewable energies, with experience in the installation of photovoltaic systems, energy consumption studies and technical feasibility analysis for residential and small-scale applications.

Currently, our engineering area is developing advanced energy optimization studies for the maritime sector, aimed at reducing fuel consumption and improving the operational efficiency of ships.

Among these developments, an engineering study is being carried out for the incorporation of wind energy in ships, which is in the planning, technical analysis and cost/benefit evaluation stage, considering the real operating conditions of the fleet and its impact on operational continuity.

This approach allows us to offer our clients energy solutions with technical support, based on prior studies, return on investment analysis and a long-term sustainable vision.
